Queenstown

Known to the native Maori as Tāhuna, Queenstown in New Zealand’s South Island region of Otago is a resort town sitting on the edge of the stunning Lake Waktipu amongst the country's most picturesque mountain ranges. The town’s position between pristine water views and some of the world’s most beautiful untouched nature makes it one of the country’s most popular destinations among the local population as well as with international travellers, and a treat for urban tourists and outdoor adventurers alike.

With one of New Zealand’s fastest growing populations, having grown from 5,200 in 2006 to around 28,000 today, Queenstown is a relatively small yet undeniably attractive community whose accommodation options for all types of travellers including vacationers, extreme sports athletes, and of course students, are more than ideal throughout the year. Host to many annual cultural events celebrating the township’s special location, such as its Bike Festival and Winter Festival, from season-to-season Queenstown earns its reputation as an all-year-round destination.
